Considering the global significance and urgency with regards the ongoing SARS CoV-2 caused COVID-19 outbreak, ISAR organized an online webinar by a key opinion leader and a subject matter expert, Mark Denison, MD, Director, Division of Infectious Diseases, Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, Nashville, TN on Feb 27th, 2020.
The Society’s Webinar Series coordinator, Raj Kalkeri, hosted the webinar and Rob Jordan moderated the session. Dr Mark Denison’s lab is engaged in preclinical development of remedisivir and other nucleoside analogs for use against SARS-CoV, MERS-CoV and other potentially zoonotic CoVs.
As usual, the GoToWebinar platform was used for the webinar. The webinar discussed the biology of coronaviruses, current antivirals in development, and targets for broad-based antivirals. The webinar was followed by an interactive question & answer session. There were more than 40 questions ranging from the viral pathobiology to antiviral targets. 277 people registered for the webinar, of whom 101 people attended the online event live.
The webinar was recorded and, as an exception, is offered to both ISAR members and non-members in our quest to help the antiviral community’s efforts against SARS CoV-2. To see the webinar, please register (name and email address) in the page linked. You will then be able to access the webinar; no membership is required. All other ISAR hosted webinars are offered as a service to our members only.
